Blog – Doc Cotton

 Did You Know?

It’d only be right to tell you more about Doc Cotton and behind the scenes so we’re kicking off with our Top 5 ‘Did You Know?’

Did you know?

Peckham Levels is our current residence which is where all the magic happens!  7 empty levels of a multi-storey carpark was transformed into a new creative workspace and cultural destination, where we have our shop (not hard to miss with all the pandas!) and studio. Peckham Levels is powered by 100% renewable energy and has several talented members in-house we means we don’t have to look very far when it comes to photoshoots and creatives. Everything is made to order by Daylan, our Production Manager and his team so you can guarantee a fantastic piece and any questions answered about your bespoke item.

Did you know?

Doc Cotton is not named after Dot Cotton from Eastenders as you may think! James, behind Doc Cotton decided on the name after much thought for an ‘out there’ brand and something memorable, which definitely is the case if you haven’t seen our Panda models in the shop on the top floor.

Did you know?

We were voted ‘Best Buy’ when it comes to bags for life for our totebags in the Independent! We still can’t get over it and it’s pretty cool to think our totebags have been given the a-ok by Sirena Bergman who has an interest in sustainability and ethical products.

Did you know?

Did you know we’ve seen all sorts of custom prints on our garments including a tiled print of a customer’s face which we can say won’t ever be forgettable! We love seeing the sheer creativity and talent of Doc Cottoners and it always blows our mind when we open your prints -from California sunsets to Renaissance art, there’s no limits, which is the great thing about Doc Cotton – it’s your style and your choice!

Did you know?

We aim to make everything zero waste when it comes to resources and materials, only making needed samples for our shop and supplying other Peckham Levels members with surplus fabric that is not needed. Our method of creating your garment is transparent and a process that guarantees 100% quality. You can find more on this on our About Us page.

Stay tuned for more Did You Knows in the future!

There’s a lot going on at Doc Cotton HQ and that is lots of exciting news! Where to start? 2019 started off with lots of new ideas, planning and implementing them. Naturally, now is the time to share the latest with you. You may have seen sneak peeks on our social media so let’s not hold up any longer.

We are launching our babywear and kidswear range after a demand for sustainable cotton garments for little ones, which now means they can join in on the Doc Cotton fun! It’ll work exactly the same way as our current line up. The range will be suitable for ages 0 to 10 years old and will be available in the next few weeks. Watch this space for the official launch.

Garments available include:

  • Unisex sweatshirt
  • T-shirt with snap shoulders
  • Summer romper
  • Baby-grow
  • Baby leggings
  • Toddler leggings
  • Half elasticated shorts
  • Summer dress

We had a great time shooting for the new line up in Norwich with some fantastic models in January. It was great working with a dedicated team and we hope you love the pictures as much as we loved putting everything together! However, this is not the only thing that’s been keeping us busy. We’re also launching a unisex range for those who prefer a relaxed fit. Who said sustainable couldn’t be stylish?

 These additions will include:

  • Long sleeved turtleneck tshirt
  • Long sleeved relaxed fit oversized t-shirt
  • Short sleeved relaxed fit oversized t-shirt

We are also adding to our range of dresses with the *drumroll* skater dress!

Just in time for Spring and Summer, the luxurious feel of the cotton will be the perfect light material to wear in the warmer months and perfect for those who were waiting for a wider choice in dresses.

We’ve also been working on our current dresses length, offering a longer alternative. Our womenswear range has been modified to account for larger bust, hip and shoulder size to ensure a comfortable fit. Keep an eye on our website as you’ll be able to see the modifications when you customise your bespoke printed garment.

We’ve added plenty of new prints to the website and welcomed plenty of new artists to the Doc Cotton tribe, including Chloe Salisbury, Katrina Lyne-Watt and Asma Ali (in order). Plenty of choices are available to create your tote bag, t-shirt or trousers for the next few months.

Until next time!

Welcome to our first blog post! How better to start it then with Doc Cotton’s very own style edit?

We think it’s so important at Doc Cotton HQ to wear your DC garment according to your personal style, so we’ll be showing you how we do it and what our favourite pieces are to wear. If you haven’t got your hands on one yet, this will be the inspiration you need to add to your swag bag!

Why choose Doc Cotton you ask?

We’re all about sustainable cotton and bespoke pieces; we want to cater to your personal style and provide a platform where you can choose and create your bespoke printed garment, tote bag or boxer shorts. Everything is handmade in our Peckham studio by our fantastic and skilled team, so you can trust that your piece was made with the utmost care and dedication. Behind the scenes, the small details that makes up Doc Cotton will be captured here or on our social media, so be sure to give us a follow on Instagram or a ‘like’ on Facebook!

Daylan, our Production Manager has opted for the soon-to-be-launched (watch this space…) unisex relaxed fit long sleeved t-shirt made from 100% organic cotton jersey. He wore his slightly tucked into skinny chinos for a relaxed smart casual look, paired with Doc Martens. Perfect for the ultimate wearable daytime outfit or save it for the weekend – it’s up to you!

Jo opted to wear the Frieda Peppercorn tea dress made from 100% cotton poplin which also features pockets. She paired it with brown ankle boots for a bold daytime look that can be carried into the evening, with a simple switch to heels. Perfect for those who fill their diaries for after work.

Until next time folks. We’ll be running weekly blog posts so keep your eyes peeled for the next one and let us know what you fancy having a read about. Just simply drop us a message via social media and we’ll get back to you.
